![]() In the past three years NetBSD has introduced a few new features, many of them security enhancements. I last tried NetBSD 7.0 about three years ago and decided it was time to test drive the operating system again. While the base operating system is minimal, NetBSD users have access to a large repository of binary packages and a ports tree which I will touch upon later. The operating system’s clean and minimal design allow it to be run in all sorts of environments, ranging from embedded devices, to servers, to workstations. ![]() NetBSD is a highly portable operating system which can be run on dozens of different hardware architectures.
